Upon successful completion, students will receive an HSI CPR & AED certification that is valid for 2 years.

The HSI CPR & AED Hybrid-Online course combines self-paced online learning with a required in-person skills session. Students complete the online portion at their convenience before attending a hands-on session with an instructor to practice and demonstrate CPR and AED skills.
The course teaches participants how to recognize and respond to cardiac arrest, choking, and other life-threatening emergencies. Students learn high-quality CPR, AED use, and emergency response techniques for adults, children, and infants. Upon successful completion of both the online coursework and in-person skills session, students receive an HSI CPR & AED certification valid for 2 years.
The CPR & AED Hybrid-Online course is designed for individuals with little or no medical training who need CPR and AED certification for work, regulatory requirements, or personal preparedness and prefer the flexibility of completing the classroom portion online. It is ideal for teachers, childcare providers, coaches, fitness instructors, construction workers, security personnel, workplace safety teams, and anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to cardiac arrest, choking, and other life-threatening emergencies.
CPR and AED certifications typically last for two years. After this period, individuals are required to take a recertification course to renew their certification

No. The CPR & AED hybrid-online course does not include a written exam. Participants are evaluated through hands-on skills practice to ensure they can perform high-quality CPR, use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and respond effectively to choking and other life-threatening emergencies. Upon successful completion, students receive a Health & Safety Institute (HSI) CPR & AED course completion card valid for 2 years.
No. To receive a Health & Safety Institute (HSI) CPR & AED certification, students must complete both the required online coursework and an instructor-led skills session. The online portion allows students to learn the course material at their own pace, while the in-person session provides hands-on practice and skills evaluation to ensure they can confidently perform CPR and use an AED.
In most cases, yes. This CPR & AED course follows the Health & Safety Institute’s (HSI) blended learning format, which combines self-paced online coursework with a required in-person skills session led by an HSI instructor. Students must successfully complete both portions to receive an official Health & Safety Institute (HSI) CPR & AED course completion card.
Many employers accept HSI blended learning courses because they include hands-on skills practice and evaluation. However, employer and regulatory requirements can vary, so we recommend confirming acceptance with your employer before registering.
For individual registrations, no. We currently offer CPR & AED only in Health & Safety Institute’s (HSI) blended learning format, which includes self-paced online coursework followed by a required in-person skills session.
However, if you are scheduling training for a group or organization, we may be able to offer a fully instructor-led, in-person CPR & AED class at your location or ours. Please contact us to discuss your group’s training needs and available options.
