The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens Course teaches the knowledge and skills needed to help prevent the spread of bloodborne diseases in the workplace. Participants learn how to recognize exposure risks, use personal protective equipment (PPE), and respond to exposure incidents. This course meets OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens training requirements and includes an American Heart Association Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens completion card upon successful completion.

Yes. The Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens Course is designed to meet the training requirements of the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standard for employees with occupational exposure.
The course typically takes about 1-hour to complete.
Yes. Upon successful completion, you’ll receive an American Heart Association Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens completion card.
Yes. You may register for Bloodborne Pathogens as a standalone course if it is the only training you need.
Yes. If you’re already registered for another certification class, you can add Bloodborne Pathogens training during checkout or contact us if you’ve already completed your registration. The training is completed immediately after your scheduled class during the same visit.
Many employers accept HSI blended learning courses because they include hands-on skills practice and evaluation. However, employer and regulatory requirements can vary, so we recommend confirming acceptance with your employer before registering.
No. There are no online modules or precourse assignments. The course is completed in one instructor-led classroom session.
The American Heart Association Heartsaver® Bloodborne Pathogens completion card does not have a standard expiration date. However, OSHA generally requires annual Bloodborne Pathogens training for employees with occupational exposure. Check with your employer to determine their training requirements.
