CPR | AED with First Aid is designed by the Health and Safety Institute specifically for those who do not work in a hospital or other healthcare setting.

Are you prepared to be a lifesaver in critical situations? Take our CPR | AED with First Aid course to gain the knowledge and confidence needed to respond effectively in emergencies. Our comprehensive training program, certified by the Health and Safety Institute (HSI), equips you with essential skills to provide immediate care and save lives. Upon completion of this course, student will receive a  CPR | AED with First Aid certification from the HSI that is valid for 2 years.

Course Details

This is what you will learn about in a CPR | AED with First Aid class

  1. Key signs and symptoms of heart attacks and strokes.
  2. Assessing the patient for cardiac arrest.
  3. CPR for adult, child and infant.
  4. Providing breaths with a pocket mask.
  5. AED operations and precautions.
  6. Choking for all ages.
  7. Bleeding control.
  8. Epi-pen administration.
  9. Using inhalers.
  10. Managing burns, broken bones and spinal injuries.

CPR with First Aid combo

CPR with First Aid

Class length: 4 hours

Price: $95

CPR | AED and Pediatric First Aid combo

The First Aid portion of this course is specifically designed for treating children. All the videos and topics covered will be focused on pediatrics, not adults like the class listed above.

The CPR section still covers all age groups.

There are no pre-requisites for this course. 

We recommend you confirm with your employer that you do, or do not need this certification.

Professions that most commonly need this course are babysitters, daycare workers, etc.

Non-combo class options

While it is less common, some of our students don't always need both CPR | AED and First Aid Training.

Below are some individual options that allow you to split the combo class so you can have either just First Aid only or CPR | AED only. Because these classes by themselves are less common, we don’t regularly schedule them.

Questions about CPR | AED and First Aid

Is HSI equivalent to AHA and American Red Cross (ARC)

Yes. Health & Safety Institute (HSI), American Heart Association (AHA) and American Red Cross (ARC) are the top 3 Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Training in the United States. 

They are considered equivalent in the standard of training and are widely accepted and recognized.

Who should take a CPR and First Aid course?

The course is suitable for anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to emergencies, including laypersons, teachers, childcare providers, workplace responders, and others who may need CPR and first aid knowledge.

What does the course cover?

HSI CPR and First Aid covers topics such as adult, child, and infant CPR, AED (Automated External Defibrillator) use, choking relief, and basic first aid skills like managing bleeding, shock, burns, and more.

How long does the CPR|AED with First Aid course take?

The course duration can vary, but typically, it takes around 3.5-4 hours to complete the training. The length may depend on the specific training center and whether it’s done in-person or online.

Is there a certification provided upon completion?

Yes, participants who successfully complete our CPR|AED with First Aid course will receive a Health and Safety Institute (HSI) certification card. This card is  valid for two years and indicates that the individual is trained in CPR and basic first aid.

How often should the certification be renewed?

The AHA recommends renewing the Heartsaver CPR and First Aid certification every two years. This ensures that individuals stay current with the latest guidelines and maintain their skills.

Is there an age requirement for taking the course?

In general, there is no strict age requirement, participants should be mature enough to understand and perform the skills taught in the course.

Our training age policy minimum is 16 without a parent and 13 accompanied by a parent or a legal guardian. (Parent does not need to pay additional for themselves unless they wish to also receive a certification.)

What should I bring to my CPR | AED with First Aid class?

Participants should wear comfortable clothing, as the course involves hands-on skills practice. It’s also advisable to bring a notebook and pen for taking notes. Check with the specific training center for any additional requirements.

Is this class United States Coast Guard Compliant?

Yes. We are USCG compliant and can provide the additional USCG certificate that contains the appropriate code upon request. 

You will be able to request this certificate during registration.
